Muggle is a word for someone within the Harry Potter books who is totally non-magic. It's what wizards call people who have "no magical blood in their veins."

They call them muggles.
Then there are the "pure-bloods" who call muggle-borns "mudbloods."
A muggle born to magical parents is known as a squib

Mudblood is considered a very offense term in the wizarding world. If you recall it is what Draco called Hermione which got her upset.

Actually, Hermione didn't know what "Mudblood" meant when Draco hurled the term at her. She, and Harry, had to be told by Ron and Hagrid.
