UGA is the name of the School and the Bulldog(s) in question. The School is University of Georgia, Athens, hence, UGA and the Mascot is Uga. Pronounced Uh-guh.
"Uga (pronounced UH-GUH) is the name of a lineage of white English bulldogs owned by Frank W. "Sonny" Seiler, which have served as the mascot of the University of Georgia since 1956. Although the University is located in Athens, Georgia, Uga lives with the Seilers in Savannah, Georgia."

Having lived there for many years, one learns just how dedicated persons in The South can be about their Home Teams. It is an obsession for many!
