Because Israel's electrical appliances, well, those that one would use around the house, are mostly imported. Much cheaper to get them from the States or Ireland.
Though in some areas of technology, mainly hi-tech science companies and medical technology, Israel has actually invented quite a few little gadgets. In fact, ICQ was originally thought up by an Israeli, who sold his idea to the Americans. This is quite normal, as many Israelis prefer to export their innovations for the better price and publicity.
