    The first baby born in the White House was James Madison Randolph, the eighth child of Thomas Jefferson's daughter, Martha Randolph. This was in the winter of 1805.

    The only child born to a President within the White House was the second daughter of Grover Cleveland, Miss Esther, who first saw the light in one of the most historic rooms in the Executive Mansion, on September 9, 1893, in the first year of her father's second term in the Presidential chair.
