Well, they dry apricots but not peaches.

This is interesting from wiki : Among tank-driving soldiers, apricots are taboo, by superstition. Tankers will not eat apricots, allow apricots onto their vehicles, and often will not even say the word "apricot"

Technically, an apricot is more like a plum.
APRICOT -- Genus: Prunus Subgenus: Prunus
PLUM -- Genus: Prunus Subgenus: Prunus
PEACH -- Genus: Prunus Subgenus: Amygdalus

Amygdalus? Isn't that an almond?
I guess that means that peaches are more closely related to almonds.
It also suggests that almonds are not true nuts.

They're not, botanically. They're just very large pips. In culinary terms, they are nuts. (Who said we were too?)
