No one "Owns" any land! Persons only hold a deed to occupy
any particular space. The right to occupy this space is transferable for/at a price. Do not believe me about ownership??? Research how many people have lost land in the name of social progress under the laws of "Right of Way".

QUOTE: Though several flags of the Soviet Union and the United States have been symbolically planted on the Moon, the Russian and U.S. governments make no claims to any part of the Moon's surface. Russia and the U.S. are party to the Outer Space Treaty, which places the Moon under the same jurisdiction as international waters (res communis). This treaty also restricts use of the Moon to peaceful purposes, explicitly banning weapons of mass destruction (including nuclear weapons) and military installations of any kind.
A second treaty, the Moon Treaty, was proposed to restrict the exploitation of the Moon's resources by any single nation, but it has not been signed by any of the space-faring nations. Several individuals have made claims to the Moon in whole or in part, though none of these claims are generally considered credible.

Those people selling bits of the Moon are on a par with the people who invest themselves with Orders of Knighthood and Grand Masterships, and then proceed to sell non existent 'titles' to people who are idiotic enough to believe them. Sure, they will register your purchase in their International Lunar Lands Registry and deposit it in various places, and make reference to the Berne Convention. All the Berne Convention has to do with this is that it protects the copyright of their 'annual publication'. Sounds good, though, and international too.... I've not got much sympathy for the people who part with money to outfits like this, although at $18.95 for an acre in the Sea of Vapours it's not as dear as a fake title. Why the Sea of Tranquillity should be the most prestigious address on the Moon is unclear to me, though. But hey, that's only $37.95 an acre... And they do offer to sort it out if another outfit has sold the same parcel of land. Shouldn't be hard, that. There's a lot of Moon there, and until you get up there it's a bit hard to check on the actual boundaries anyway. Interesting that they spell 'bank draft' (normal US spelling - and UK English too) as 'bank draught'.
