Tetley produce all the tea for tasting according to BS 6008: 1980 (ISO 3103-1980), the famous standard that describes the correct equipment and test method for making the perfect cup of tea. A number of relevant specifications, glossaries and sampling methods are available, each proud to do its bit for Britain in the interest of the national brew. Tea can be black; golden; hungry; gone off (‘a tea that is below expectations, probably owing to poor manufacture or age’); nutty (‘a characteristic of tea tasting of nuts’). Tests for sensory perception of tea are not to be rushed, the water has to be freshly boiled and the tea brewed for a full 6 minutes.
Recently Tetley faced up to meeting another standard, ISO 14001 for environmental management, to cover all of their UK operations.

Yay, that's it to a T, Skysmom.
Still, four pages of ISO 3103 is a lot of brouhaha for a cup that cheers.
And six minutes! Hardly my cup of tea...
