In the late 1940s, Warner Bros. brought her under contract to Los Angeles, where she became known as a comedic actress. She played the Italian widow in William Wellman's "Westward the Women." She went on to appear in features including "Three Coins in the Fountain," "A Patch of Blue," "The Idol Maker" and Anne Bancroft's "Fatso." After appearing in several live television shows, Vanni moved on to episodic TV.
