    Just how much do the flowers, candy, dinners, trips and jewelry expenses add up during the frenzied Valentine’s spending season? The National Retail Federation figures that Americans spent $12.8 billion in 2005 to please that special someone. This year the NRF is expecting expenditures to increase 7% to $13.7 billion with an average consumer dishing out just over $100. It seems that while love is free, gift ideas that display it are worth the attention of investors.
