There must have been thousands of "Stalin Streets" in Russia/Eastern Europe, the interesting thing is: Why was a street in Amsterdam called ´Stalinlaan´(= Stalin Street)?
I think it is now called ´Vriheidslaan´. Can anyone explain this?

I skimmed a Dutch Wikipedia site, which indicates that after World War II, streets in Amsterdam were named after Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill. The reason would certainly have been that they were the leaders of the Allies who had defeated the Nazis, who had, of course, occupied the Netherlands.
It seems that following the 1956 Soviet invasion of Hungary and the crushing of the Hungarian Revolution, the name "Stalinlaan" was changed.
