Traditionally who sits on a donkey stool?

    Question #75986. Asked by nibbles0011. (Feb 17 07 9:59 AM)

Usually we sat astride artist's donkey stools which held drawing boards rigidly at an angle... thus you could not stand to draw properly nor sit to see the subject either... but at least you could hide your blushes when the nude model stepped onto the dais.

It can also refer to a milking stool that fastens on to you with a belt so that you don't have to pick it up to go to the next cow. So presumably a milkmaid would sit on one. Interesting difference shows up there. A milkmaid extracts the stuff, a milkman delivers it.

The only artists' nude models I've met would cause cringe reactions rather than any other - and that was while still clothed!
