Was the question meant to say 6 times? Scorsese has been nominated six times for an Oscar for Best Director, but has yet to win one. A couple of sites state that songwriter Sammy Cahn was nominated 26 times. One claims over 30 nominations, and the one below says 23. Take your pick.
