A certain lady whose identity is unimportant to this question is the daughter of a former Harvard dean. She found the physical atmosphere of their National Register house with its dark brown woodwork and Victorian decor, as well as the intellectual atmosphere of their social circle, to be oppressive, intimidating, hypocritical, and meaningless. Can you furnish the first line of a poem by a well-known American poet that aptly conveys her sense of frustration with that lifestyle?

Maybe "We are the hollow men", which is the first line of the poem "The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot.

That's good, but not the one I have in mind.
I'm looking for the first line of a poem that entirely deals with this subject. That's a third huge hint, after one in my statement and another in the actual question.

Scratch that...the whole poem does not deal entirely with the subject.

Right, scratch that one, but the first line does include a gender word.

I wonder whether you could be referring to E.E. Cummings' "The Cambridge ladies who live in furnished souls":

When re-entering the atmosphere there's a period of radio blackout. Does this occur when leaving the atmosphere, and if not, why not?

He was born in 1731 in Nice, France, where his family was living at the time. His mother was Lady Anne Gray, daughter of the Duke of Kent. He was a pioneer in the manipulation of gases and established an accurate composition of the atmosphere. He was extremely wealthy, but was not bothered by money. Who was he?

Several years ago, I read an article about a proposal to one day establish ozone manufacturing plants on Mars. Along with other methods, and after many years, it would be part of creating a breathable atmosphere. With information about the lack of magnetism and the core no longer rotating, is this still possible? Seems the atmosphere may once again be blown away by solar winds.
