    Is the case of Jack the Ripper still open, so if Scotland Yard was to discover some new incriminating evidence they could in theory declare the case solved?

    The case was officially closed in 1892, though Ripperologists continue to speculate and hunt for the idendity of the killer.

    I know in the US there is no statue of limitations on murder, so the police may continue to investigate unsolved homocides hundreds of years after they occured. Is this different in the UK?
