"The characters of Louis and Lestat were a constant source of speculation. Names linked to the roles included Mel Gibson, Richard Gere or John Travolta and Cher in a musical version of the story. Anne Rice wanted Rutger Hauer and Tom Berenger. Rice was very impressed by Richard E.
