How does a world famous fountain connect specifically with autobiographical memory?

    Intervista

"The movie is best known for its scene with Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg, sentimentally reunited to watch the Trevi Fountain scene from 1960's "La Dolce Vita." (Ekberg says Mastroianni didn't have much time for her on the "Intervista" set.) "

"Fellini's Intervista (1987) carried the reflectiveness of his later years full circle. A fitting companion piece to 8 1/2 and a revisitation (with Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg) of that other landmark, La Dolce Vita, Fellini again directly confronted his own position and status as a filmmaker, this time with a sadder, more wistful nostalgia than he had as a younger man. Now the aging "Il Mago" ("the magician," as he was sometimes called in Italy) and his aging actors watch clips of their earlier triumphs in scenes that are extremely moving."

Well, you have the fountain, but not the connection.

Try looking at 'autobiographical memory' whilst laying on a leather couch.

I see that you all may be 'fishing' for clues instead of using the 'little grey cells'...

I think the connection is probably hippocamp/hippocampus. Examples of the former, a mythological creature, appear on the Trevi. The hippocampus is a part of the brain instrumental in the formation of memories. It was once thought to resemble a hippocamp:

    Finally.

Yes indeed, Frankie, and just how many coins have you hurled into the fountain? I think I'm onto my 12th, and it seems to be working...

    Lud, peasy! 2 x 6 or 3 x 4?
    No, it would have to be (2 + 3) + (2 + 3) + 2
    Don't answer.

Actually, honey, the way I see it is 1+1+1+1+1+1 etc etc....

Then again, after the gypsies have robbed me blind, I'm usually only left with one coin anyway.

Oh no, I figured that one out years ago. It's the baby-throwing one I just can't get out of. ;)
