Quite right. Rajah is related to the root of Latin rex (reg-ere), and rani can be found back in Spanish reina, French reine .
There is also the "great holy man" or maharishi.And there is even the English "mickle" that derives from the same root "meg-" as 'maha', 'mega', and 'mag-nus'.
