Which word means a collector of horse brasses?

Question #77559. Asked by gmackematix. (Mar 20 07 8:14 PM)

Gmack, this turned out to be a quite fascinating subject on which there are some good sites (I'm tempted to start collecting myself), but none of them mentioned a special term for collectors of these items.

Could we have a minor clue, please?

I notice a pub in Shropshire has a very nice collection of these decorative brasses.

While Frankie is grovelling, I guess I'd better get down on my knees, too...

Well, if you two can't find an answer maybe there isn't one.
It just seems odd that so many British pubs have noted collections of these things yet the pursuit has no erudite name.
We'll have to make one. We have "hippo-" as a Greek prefix meaning horse. Now what is Greek for brass...?

So we can just coin a word?
    How about philohippoprountzos?
There were several other than occurred to me a few days ago, but I was trying not to be frivolous.

It's time hippoprountzophilists took their place among the cagophilists, arctophilists, phlangonologists, labeorphilists, scripophilists and so on...
By the way, which pub were you referring to, Peasy?

I think it was called 'The Britannia', ring any bells there, dear?

For some reason all the pubs on that street, The Britannia, The Station, The Rock & Fountain and The Plough are all a bit of a blur in my mind.
No Bells though. Just the odd pint of cider for me, thanks...Cheers!
