What food has the most sugar in the world?

Question #77612. Asked by Ringerguy. (Mar 21 07 5:28 PM)

Since sugar is edible so it would be considered a food I'm gonna go for the obvious answer and say sugar.

I'm not sure what sucrose is but if ringerguy wants to know what food has the most sugar in the world then wouldn't straight sugar have more of itself in it more than sucrose?

    Here's an interesting tidbit:

When asked which in a list of food items has the most sugar, more than one in three personal trainers incorrectly identified a Krispy Kreme® glazed doughnut as having more sugar than many popular nutrition bars. In an October 2006 consumer survey, half of American adults surveyed made the same mistake in response to the same question. In reality, a PowerBar Performance top-selling* Chocolate bar (18g of sugars) and Clif Bar’s top-selling* Crunchy Peanut Butter (18g of sugars) tip the sugar scale more than a Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut (10g of sugars)

I'd go for Kendal Mint Cake. If it didn't contain mint, it would probably be pure sugar. (If you've never tried it, do. You don't have to be up a mountain or in the Antarctic. Very hard to stop eating it, though.)

Sucrose (Table Sugar) has far more Sugar content per Gram than Sugar Cane because table sugar is a concentrated extract condensate of cane.

As for other food excluding Rock Candy and the like, I would have to agree that some form of Donut would qualify.
