When were bananas first sold in Italy?

Well, sometime around 1890, I guess, as Pellegrino Artusi (The author of 'La Scienza in Cucina E L'arte Di Mangiar Bene') wrote about this 'exotic' fruit for a gelato recipe such as this one:

I gather the actual date of the first banana sold would be earlier, but this is a start.

This one was for you, peasy, and I love your reference! I should have asked, "When were bananas first readily available to the average consumer in Italy?" I know they were exotic for still a couple of decades after this recipe was published.
