And I think that you, tf, don't know the word you wanted.

"Moule," in French, merely means "mold," as in clay, porcelain, and other forms of molded art.

"Moulin," on the other hand, means "windmill" in French, as in the "Red Windmill" nightclub known as the "Moulin Rouge."

The most famous painting of a windmill is the one below, by Jacob van Ruisdael.

I wasn't getting into this one, but there is a poster called "Le Moule" by Sara Hayward for sale. Maybe it's a beach scene?

"Le Moule is the sixth-largest commune in the French overseas département of Guadeloupe. It is located on the northeast side of the island of Grande-Terre. In the 1999 census, Le Moule had a population of 20,827."

Yes, of course, "Le Moule," geographically speaking, is a region of Guadeloupe. And yes, there is a minor (very minor) artist named Sara Hayward who has produced a sweet little print called "Le Moule."

However, tf has told us that the artist he (or she) had in mind was "a Dutch guy." Somehow, I don't think that means Hayward or the Canadian artist Marcel Barbeau.

Yes, I know, but I just couldn't help but give a straight, true, documented answer to the original question. With an illustration, yet!

    Flem-ish

There is also an "artwork" (?) by Marcel Broodthaers "La Grande Casserole de Moules". The title is ambiguous because "moules" can be understood as "molds" too.

Alas, tragic, your player name is quite astonishingly appropriate. You didn't even get the name of the work of art right.

Actually that is the nickname of the work- so your joke fizzled there Frank

But the question did say that the piece was 'entitled' Le Moule, not that its nickname was Le Moule. Frankie wins!!
