Tibetan Buddhist monks are generally title as Lama. Most temples or monasteries generally have one or more Lama(s) that memorized scores of chants that can be recited on call. Chants are the recitation of of sutras or selected parts of sutras, ritual prayers, and mantras and are generally recited in Sanskit or Tibetan.
The chant master is general referred to as the Umdze. However in monasteries, participially nunneries, the term dbu mdzad may be used.
