A recent world first took a little over nine exhausting weeks to achieve with the help of petrol and a number of friends throwing lots of blood? What was this achievement and why were petrol and blood involved?

I think this must be Martin Strel's swimming of the Amazon, during which piranhas had to be distracted by friends in motorboats, tossing blood and all.

I haven't eaten dinner yet. This may put me off my feed:

This would be Martin Strel's 3,375 mile swim of the Amazon River. The petrol and blood were to distract the piranhas.

Much of the yay must go to Frankie there, not least for her loss of apetite.
Of course this was Martin Strel's latest feat which didn't all go, how shall I put it, swimmingly.
His wetsuit was soaked in petrol was a piranha deterrent and the blood was thrown in to attract meat-eaters including piranhas and crocs away from the man.
None of this would encourage me to do one width of a river full of piranhas let alone one length.

Whenever I go to a petrol station to fill my car, I am surprised to see how petrol is being filled in the car, from where does the petrol come assuming that the tank is so small?

Some years ago I used a petrol pump for my car which was set in advance and delivered petrol without having to press the handle, stopping at the chosen amount automatically. I haven't seen one since, so are any of these still in use, and if not, why not?

If it's 83.9p per litre of petrol, and for every litre you get, you get 5p off the price, so its 78.9p a litre. How much petrol would i have to buy for me to end up paying an even amount, such as £30 or £35?
