Many people know that the original formula for Coca-Cola provided a bit of a lift via coca leaves. Who can tell me what other popular beverage once contained an ingredient today associated with helping some afflicted people avoid peaks and valleys? What is that substance, and what was the drink first called?

Ok, this is just a stab because I may have a different interpretation of 'peaks and valleys'.
How about Pepsi? It was originally called 'Brad's Drink' and contained pepsin root. (to alleviate heartburn)

I'll keep scrounging about though...

The name was Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon Lime Soda and contained lithium citrate, a mood stabilizing drug.

O.K., BG, I'll give MGJ -- let's see -- two thirds of the silver mace, and you get the other third.
"Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda". No wonder they changed the name.
Now, peasy, I was rather hoping that you'd work on #79086 ....

Actually, peasy has her head wrapped around 58074, or had you mislaid that one?

Certainly not. I really do treasure that one.

Very interesting. I thought Bib-Label might be some contortion of "drinkable" :-) but it means they slipped paper labels over the neck of what must have been someone else's bottles. (Snopes says "otherwise unlabeled bottles.")
