There has to have been some residential area around a small spot in eastern Africa known as Olorgesailie, a large factory for spearheads of different sizes that existed as early as 2 million years ago.
The oldes still existing permanent human settlement is the city of Jericho, now a part of the Palestinian territories, around which homes have been found dating back 9,000 years.
