    The Colosseum (aka the Flavian Amphitheater) was completed in the first century CE, but gladiatoral combat in Rome and elsewhere was much older and had taken place in other venues:

    I recently watched a program on the History Channel where they mentioned a plant used by the Romans for birth control. Apparently the method was so effective that the plant was harvested to the point of extinction. Sorry, I didn't catch the name of it. What is known about this plant?

Oddly enough, never a drumming place, though virtually in a former shooting place that still retains the name.
