Some months ago Hubby and Daughter went to the land of their birth and among other things visited a museum of art by a compatriot. Last night we were looking at some of his work online and found him quoted as saying something to the effect that people in Paris are tired of beauty but people from his country hunger for it. Although he claims to have found beauty, we agreed he must be starving by now...though his figures look anything but starved. To whom do I refer, and where does he presently reside?

Botero, by any chance? He hangs out in New York and various places in Europe.

Si, senora! El Museo Botero en Bogota, Colombia.

Fernando Botero paints and sculpts "blimpy" figures.

We can find nothing more definite on his present domicile.

Looks like my link to the platano doesn't work. Let's try this one, though the picture's not as good.

One of the places where Botero hangs out is Pietrasanta, Italy, long a favored location for artists:

Thanks, Frankie. That led me to:

"2007--Botero lives in Paris, New York, Monte Carlo, and Pietrasanta. It has become too dangerous for him to stay in his native country, Colombia."
