    Why does the flag of Australia's Northern Territory not include the Union Jack, while all the Australian state flags do?

    		me guessing here, but was it not to do with giving the local aboriginal people a bit of respect and self being since Britain had taken away every thing that they had since they were a recognised race?
    i am talking about the ARNHEIM land.

    		The flag of Australia's Northern Territory was the first internal (or external) Australian territory to adopt a flag post-Federation (1901). By 1978 the Union Jack had waned in significance as an appropriate symbol for Australia. Thus, it was decided that the Northern Territory's flag would not have a Union Jack, but rather seven leaves representing the six original states and one for all territories.
