In recent years which event connects a famous scientist, the Scarlet Pimpernel, a West Indian exercise guru and a 1960s TV Western?

Would it help if I said a certain Lanfranco was involved in the latest such event?

Does this have anything to do with a horserace? Because there's a jockey named Lanfranco (Frankie!) Dettori.

    I'll do what I can ....

Well, Dettori won the Epsom Derby on Authorized. Various horses that have won the race have been called Galileo, Sir Percy, and High Chaparral. I haven't the faintest idea who that West Indian exercise guru might be.

Incidentally, Dettori also won the French Derby on Lawman, which was the name of another television western.

Yay for being first past the post again, Frankie.
The other Derby winner from the last ten years referred to was Motivator, with Mr Motivator (aka Derrick Evans) being a Jamaican aerobics instructor on British TV in the 1980s.
Frankie Dettori is a popular character in British racing best known for his leaping dismounts, winning seven races on one day at Ascot and, until now, not being able to win the Derby.
