What was the source of the ink used to write the Declaration of Independence?

According to one site I checked, the Declaration was written in iron gall ink, very commonly used for around 800 years. It was made by combining ferrous sulfate with tannin extracted from oak galls. A binder, such as gum arabic, was added. This is, unfortunately, an unstable ink that has created many document conservation problems.
