Well - this is a true fact. In hospitals they are named by the rhyme 'This Little Pig went to Market'. So the big toe is 'Market piggy', the second one is 'Home piggy', 'Roast Beef piggy', 'None Piggy' and the piggy that went home is the little toe. It's true! I read it in Reader's Digest.

All I have found is that the big toe (or great toe) is called the hallux and the rest only seem to be numbered, the second toe being next to the hallux, third toe in the middle, and so on down the line. Also found someone's silly suggestion of toe names: Toe-tipe, Pennywipe, Tommy Thistle, Jimmy Whistle, and baby Trippingo.
