    Who discovered geometry?

Question #81932. Asked by bbsmith. (Jun 13 07 6:08 PM)

The Encyclopedia of Mathematics ( Kluwer Academics,
1988 ) states that the simplest geometry was known
to the early Egyptians and Babylonians beginning in
the second millenium B.C. They had rules, but often no proofs. Geometry primarily developed in Ancient Greece from the 7th century B.C. The Elements of Euclid was a compendium of known facts & their system-
atization, about 300 B.C. Of course the Vulcans of Star Trek predated them but that's another story.
