On February 18, 2000, Abdul-Jabbar was named an assistant coach of the LA Clippers. He ended his relationship with them after the season, and worked as a consultant for the Indiana Pacers, but in the spring of 2002, he signed on to coach the USBL Oklahoma Storm, an NBA feeder league team.
