I'm not certain if its fact - but it is certainly folklore that Elvis used to consume a lot of peanut butter and banana sandwiches !

Indeed, according to some references, peanut butter and banana sandwiches were Elvis's favourite foods. There's actually a sandwich called "The Elvis," consisting of peanut butter, banana and bacon. Apparently, he also used to enjoy those sometimes with bacon or honey thrown in.

It sounds disgusting to me, but hey, if it worked for the King...

Here are the facts: The sandwich was called "Fool's Gold Loaf" from Colorado Gold Mine Company in Denver, Colorado.
"The sandwich consists of a single loaf of hollowed out, warmed bread, one jar of peanut butter, one jar of jelly, and a pound of bacon. The result is slathered with butter and then baked. The name of the sandwich is derived from its price of $49.95. In later years, it was priced closer to $100 for the sandwich and a bottle of Dom Perignon."
On the night of February 1, 1976, Elvis Presley was at his home Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee entertaining Capt. Jerry Kennedy of the Denver Colorado police force, and Ron Pietrafeso of Colorado's Strike Force Against Crime. The three men began discussing the sandwich and Elvis decided he wanted one right then.
