    Has anyone been, or plans to be, laid to rest in space?

    Jimmy Doohan's ashes along with astronaut Gordon Cooper's ashes were launched into a suborbital flight and parachuted back to Earth.

    The ashes of Eugene Shoemaker were sent to the Moon.

    Also, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry had his remains launched into space. Doohan and Cooper will be launched into space on "The Explorer's Flight" in June of 2008.
    A lot of other people have had some part of their remains launched into space.

    List of Memorial Space Flights with partial listing of "participants." NASA also lists the flights, but I can't find it today...
