    How did the candy "Junior Mints" come to be so named?

    		Junior Mints were created in the mid-1940s by the Cambridge, Massachusetts based James O. Welch Co., manufacturers of candies and candy bars such as Sugar Babies and Welch's Fudge. The name came from the Sally Benson stories in The New Yorker that were collected into a book Junior Miss and then made into a theatrical Broadway Play in 1949.

    		Wow, I'm amazed. Has anyone around here ever read "Junior Miss"? It was reissued in paperback in the early 1970's and is a pleasure for young girls. Benson also wrote the stories on which "Meet Me in St. Louis" was based.
