In a Formula One race, how is the number of laps arrived at?

Question #83250. Asked by zeller. (Jul 12 07 6:46 AM)

The distance is the usual criterion, each circuit is a different length so although you may do 70 at one and 60 at the other the distances should correspond. They also work out around 90 minutes as well.

I can see it's a total lottery finding these facts online, I know from watching it for many years on TV.

The race length is defined as the smallest number of complete laps that exceeds 305 kilometers.
