A group of women in a European country has recently demanded, tongue-in-cheek, equal time for themselves and the females of a certain species when it comes to the staging of an annual event made famous by a great American novelist. What is the event, and what do these women claim they want?

Question #83528. Asked by lanfranco. (Jul 18 07 8:27 PM)

    Verbonica

Women in Pamplona, Spain would like equal time in the running of the bulls. They would like to compete with cows instead of bulls. (Running of the Bulls was made famous by Ernest Hemingway)

And a silver nose ring to you, Verbonica!

However, women can already run with the bulls. I'm not convinced that cows would produce quite the same effect anyway.

I just read that an iconic event of the women's liberation movement never happened. Even if it didn't happen in Atlantic City, surely women around the country (USA) copied the falsely-reported idea and did it in their own locale. What's the event, and is there documentation of a public event?

Has Men's Synchronized Swimming ever been a medal event in the Olympics; if not, have any men ever competed with women in the event?

The first official staging of this colorful celebration took place in a year and a city of great patriotic significance in the U.S., and it is still among that city's most famous holiday traditions. Much influenced by customs borrowed from the U.K. and Scandinavia, the event has often been compared with another that takes place later in the year in another U.S. urban center. What is it?
