On the Danube recently I had a bottle of wine on which was written CRNOGORSKI VRANAC. I suspect that one of these words was the type of grape, and the other the place where it was made, but can anyone give actual details please?

Vranac: prevailing grape variety
Crnogorski Loza: Montenegrin Grape Brandy, so Crnogorski most likely means Montenegrin Grape, so, Crnogorski Vranac might mean Montenegrin Grape which is of a prevaling grape variety.

Thanks kaung30 for that reference.
It certainly seems that vranac is a type of grape which grows in Montenegro.
Crnogorski appears to be the name of a place, but whether it's the name for the whole country of Montenegro, a distrcit therein, a town or village or just a domain, is not clear.
It was a splendid red wine anyway.

Pronounced something like Cherna Gora (or Tserna Gora), but we call it by the Italian translation Montenegro. Both mean Black Mountain. Vranac will be pronounced approximately vranats (or vranach if there's an accent on the c).
