Two words that are forever married once were spelled uniquely involving an 'o' and now involve another vowel instead. One of these words refer to a pre-meditated and intentional act, the other accidental, yet the items involved are both considered 'valuable' to some extent. What are these terms, and how do corn chips specifically connect to this scenario?

Peasy, I've been having trouble finding a "mode of attack," though I haven't had much time to work on this today.

Can we take it that this word or term is a genuine oxymoron? Or not?

And, I'm assuming that "forever married" is a clue. Am I right?

I suppose I'm asking for a slightly more pointed clue.

Ok, honeybun, these 'scientific' words also have been used to portray a few children's characters in various youth related circumstances. For example, books, games, etc., and interestingly enough, all the characters, albeit for different companies, portray a similar theme.

I envisaged you would all be at SEA with this one. Perhaps I might CHUCK you a clue and maybe you might FLOAT into the answer.,,

Aha! You gave it away with that. It's "jetsam and flotsam," and I'm sure some people around here can make hilarious jokes about their marriage. They were formerly spelled "jetsom and flotsom."

Jetsam is jettisoned and flotsam just floats around on its own. ("Ligan" is like a cache at sea.) Doritos washed up on the beach at Frisco, North Carolina last November.

I want to check out that Wiki site, though, because I don't think it's all true, particularly the part about Sheralynn. But, anon.

    Now, what holds carpet down?

Good One qp, well done. It was rather a giveaway with those not so subtle clues I THREW out there. ;)

What holds the carpet down, eh? Well maybe a little look through some arcaic olde English reference pages might help...

When you want to get rid of some soggy chips your hints are very helpful. Well, nothing holds my carpet down! I fly around on it when the notion strikes.

Oh, not a platter of golden chips, a golden platter. Thanks!
