    If hurricanes and tropical storms are named alphabetically, how did "Erin" end up ahead of "Dean"?

    Dean started in the Atlantic August 13 and Erin started in the Gulf of Mexico Aug 15. Therefore Dean propagated first keeping to the the alphabetical listing.
