    		Pinoy is a demonym used by Filipinos for their compatriots in the Philippines and around the world. Filipinos usually refer to themselves informally as Pinoy or sometimes the feminine Pinay.

    To begin with, “Pinoy” was coined by Filipino farm workers in the United States in the 1920s to identify themselves, sort of a code word. Today, “Pinoy” is a word that basically identifies a person of Filipino descent anywhere in the world.
