Most 5 gallon buckets these days come as easy-open. With a zip-cord that you pull like a bag of dog food. As far as paint buckets, almost all come with pour spout and therefore no lid removal is necessary.

Ah, but if you don't use all 5 gallons at the same time, or if you reuse the buckets for storage, you need to open them again.

On the few occassions in the past i had used bulk containers of paint,i used a sophisticated opening device,i called him Kevin!

Good grief! I just use a flat chisel. How hard is that?
