Name an occasion, possibly the only one, when both mens singles top seeds lost in the first round of a Tennis Grand Slam event?

The last time that the top two seeds lost in the first round of a Grand Slam was at the French Open in 1990, when both Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker failed to get past the first hurdle.

What a place to find this tid-bit, The Hindu newspaper in 2002!
Dead right though, and a golden tennis ball seems the right reward.
