The only even prime number can be 2 because any even number other than 2 can be divided by 2. That's more or less from the definition of an even number. An even number is one that can be divided by two leaving no remainder. A prime number can only be divided by itself or 1, which definition two fits but no other even number does. And won't - no matter how far they go.
