Another operatic one. This eponymous heroine is named partly for her adoptive mother, and partly for a sacred tree. Who are the heroine, the composer and the librettist?

A somewhat weird set-up, but I'd love to see it staged. The book makes good points, and the music is good. And how many operas are there where the 'extras' include corn-huskers, conjurors and cotton-pickers? But does it appear anywhere? Hardly ever. Ta for that link, Frankie.
