The story goes that a father was walking through the woods on his way home on Christmas Eve, and he was caught by the beauty of the stars shinging through the forest. He set to work re-creating this sight for his small children by tying candles to the boughs of an evergreen, taking it home, and setting it up in the house. This is a German story.
