Is it possible to know the shortlist for the Noble Prize for Economics?

It's likely that whomever is picked will be American though there are about 150-200 possible candidates.
Thomson Scientific makes Nobel predictions each year based on the most-cited economists — this year, the short list includes Jean “Game Theory” Tirole (for industrial organization and regulation); Robert Wilson and Paul Milgrom (for the mechanism of auctions); and Elhanan Helpmen and Gene Grossman (for international trade and economic growth).
As this site indicates, the prize committees never announce the names of nominees, and the nominees themselves are not told whether they are or were under consideration. Scroll down to "Nomination and Selection":
