I'm sorry, there seems there is differing tabulations so both of us are correct. I guess pick which source so trust more; both are giving their best estimate.

#1 is Equatorial Guinea – GDP per capita: $ 50,200
Africa’s wealthiest country goes to Equatorial Guinea by a long mile. It also happens to been the second wealthiest nation in the World, second only to Luxembourg, which had a GDP per capita of $55, 600 in 2005. Equatorial Guinea experienced rapid economic growth since the discovery of large offshore oil reserves, and within the last decade has risen to become third largest oil exporter in Sub-Saharan Africa. Despite its high GDP per capita, majority of the population still live in sub standard conditions.

It seems like Equatorial Guinea is indeed the African country with the highest GSP per capita and the second highest in the world. According to Wikipedia's List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita it went from a 2001 estimate of 18,171 by the International Monetary Fund to a 2005 estimate of 50,200 by the CIA World Factbook. Seems kind of extreme but whatever the true GDP per capita is Equatorial Guinea seems to be number one in Africa.

    Interesting facts about Equatorial Guinea:

"Equatorial Guinea is the smallest country, in terms of population, in continental Africa (Seychelles and São Tomé and Príncipe are smaller in terms of area, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has a smaller population but is disputed). It is also the smallest United Nations member from continental Africa. The discovery of sizeable oil reserves in recent years is altering the economic and political status of the country."
