Why does Australia want to qualify to the Football (Soccer) World Cup 2010 as a member of the Asian Football Confederation and not the Oceania Football Confederation?

There's no answer to this question; it's a discussion topic, not a trivia question. Put this Q to three different people, and you'll get four different answers. There's a discusssion topic on this over in the forums (Sports Stadium) started by trevor1968. Here's a person's slant/summary on why Australia left the OFC:

In any event, Australia doesn't want to leave; it's happened. They left Oceania on 31-Dec-2005 and became a member of the AFC on 1-Jan-06. They played at the World Cup in Germany last year as a representative of the AFC (even tho' they qualified through the OFC qualifying route/groups).
